Blackfoot Churches Unite October 24 for a March for Life

Members of the local Catholic, Protestant, and Latter-day Saint congregations will come together Saturday, October 24, for a March for Life in Blackfoot, joining in opposition to Proposition 1 ahead of Idaho’s November 3 general election.

The March for Life will begin at noon at Wilbert Cammack Park, located at the intersection of Meridian and West Bridge Street, commonly known as the Triangle Park.

Organized by a committee of members from local churches, the event brings together Christians from different denominations who share a belief in the sanctity of unborn human life.

The gathering will begin with a prayer, followed by a march along a designated walking route through Blackfoot. Food trucks will be on site offering food for purchase, and yard signs and information on Proposition 1 will be available to attendees.

The event comes as religious leaders across Idaho have publicly voiced opposition to Proposition 1, a proposed law that would expand abortion in Idaho.

Both the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have issued official statements opposing the initiative. The participating local church representatives likewise are united in their opposition, encouraging Idaho voters to consider the measure’s implications for unborn life.

Local organizers hope the march will bring community members together around their shared commitment to protecting unborn life.

The event is open to the public, and community members of all backgrounds are welcome to attend.
